The film ROGER PAGAN, GYNECOLOGIST has been designed as a low-budget sexploitation movie, perhaps to be shot in 16mm colour and blown up to 35mm. Its format will be a parody of the German and Danish pseudo-documentaries on sex, which have been very successful commercially all over the world. Thus there will be interviews with the fictitious Roger Pagan, M.D. in his office and at his luxurious home, interviews with other “gynecologists” who are jealous of his success, interviews with his many beautiful patients, and the occasional technical diagram and tour of various laboratories and examination rooms. Woven into the documentary will be a straightforward narrative which tells the story of how Pagan rose from obscurity to the heights of medical fame, only to be destroyed by his own ambition.
The complexity of the film will depend ultimately upon the budget which becomes available for its production. However, it is intended that even at the 16mm shoestring level a film which is funny and sexy, rather than morbid and clumsy (as so many of the pseudo-documentaries are), will be the result.
The primary sources of humour will be Dr. Pagan’s new theories of gynecology which lead him to treat the “whole woman”, rather than just those anatomical features which are unique to women. In other words, he gets involved in the private lives of his patients, with the result that many of them are in love with him, follow him about, fight with each other over him,
