Behind the Scenes: A Dangerous Method: Psycho-Galvanometer

Used by Carl Jung as a scientific gauge for the complex physiological responses of the body to emotional stimuli, the psychogalvanometer measures changes in skin resistance related to emotional stress. David Cronenberg and his team use the psychogalvanometer in this scene from A Dangerous Method, where Sabina Speilrein (Keira Knightley) assists Carl (Michael Fassbender) in a word association exercise with Emma Jung (Sarah Gadon). A thoroughly researched film, A Dangerous Method employs the psychogalvanometer as Jung did, but here the outcome is both scientific and dramatic.
